Everyone has something to share to help the most vulnerable.

In My Shoes serves homeless, pregnant and parenting women and their children in the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex. Whether you want to build relationships or bookshelves, your time gives these young families a fresh start in life.

Our volunteer opportunities come in all shapes and sizes:

  • House coverage. Support the In My Shoes staff by answering the phone, doing the dishes, or just being there for our residents.
  • Babysitting. Help watch babies while our moms attend classes, counseling, or work on other goals.
  • Service Saturday. Break out your toolbox and cleaning supplies every third Saturday to keep our home running.
  • Life skills training. Pass on your knowledge of parenting, job search, friendship, budgeting, and more to our residents.
  • Prayer support. Pray for In My Shoes, its staff, mothers, and babies. We strongly believe in the power of prayer to sustain our work.

Meet Paige

In My Shoes

A teen who needed volunteer hours invited Paige to babysit with her at In My Shoes. At the last minute the teen backed out. Paige went anyway – and she’s still going.

“In My Shoes fills a unique void in Dallas,” Paige says. “There aren’t many organizations that meet the needs of the most vulnerable. In My Shoes provides services, support, and community for mothers and their babies.”

Though Paige started by babysitting, she has branched out to house coverage and other needs. Recently she provided a barbecue meal with all of the fixings, prepared with the smoker on the back porch of the maternity home. Her husband is also a regular on Service Saturdays.

Paige says service at In My Shoes is a two-way street: “The resiliency of these women is inspiring. We give to them and they give back to us.”
