Donating a vehicle in good working condition is a tangible and life-changing way to support a mom in our home or one who is preparing to transition out of our program. Access to dependable transportation empowers her to maintain employment, get her baby to childcare, attend appointments, grocery shop, and stay connected to her community. It’s more than just a car—it’s a key step toward independence, consistency, and a sustainable future for her and her child.

VEHICLE DONATION PAPERWORK

There’s a short process required for you to donate your vehicle to In My Shoes. To get started, please follow the directions below to complete the necessary paperwork.

  1.  Please complete the Affidavit of Motor Vehicle Gift Transfer. This document must be notarized; we cannot accept the title or vehicle without this form. All names that appear on the vehicle’s title must sign each document.
  2. Sign the back of your Texas vehicle title. Titles from other states may have different requirements.
  3. Please sign the certification on the Application for Texas Title. If there are two names on the title, both signatures are required. (It is not necessary for you to complete the remainder of the form, just the signatures.).
  4. Please complete the IRS Donation Form for Vehicles

VEHICLE DONATION PROCESS

    • The donation process is handled with care and discretion and remains anonymous, unless a donor prefers to be recognized.
    • Fill out all the paperwork (see above).
    • We will then arrange a time to drop the vehicle off with the paperwork.
    • Contact us through our Contact page for an appointment.
    • It is not necessary for you to take off the license plates or registration. We will actually need this for the title office.
    • All donated vehicles will be assessed to ensure they are safe and in good working condition for our residents. If a vehicle meets our standards, we will coordinate a convenient pickup or drop-off to complete the donation.If a vehicle is not in suitable condition at the time of assessment, we will communicate any concerns with the donor. Donors may choose to address necessary repairs prior to donation; however, we also reserve the right to decline vehicles that do not meet the needs of our program.
    • Once the vehicle is ready, we will then donate it to the selected person on the car donation list.
